Reiki Share
with Alistair Elliott
Meets every other Monday 6:30-7:30pm
Where: 30 The Drive, Hove, BN3 3JD (top door buzzer)
Cost: £4 per person
A meetup for anyone with reiki experience or just an interest in reiki. It is a chance to give and receive reiki within a friendly and supportive group. The meeting will start with a brief meditation, then we will give and receive reiki, and we finish with another brief meditation.
Whether you're feeling a little in need of an energy boost or have something specific you would like to receive reiki for, or you want to help others, or reinvigorate your reiki practice, or get some reiki CPD, or chat with other reiki friends, or find out what reiki is all about, everyone is welcome. Hope you can make it!
What happens at a reiki share?
Attending a reiki share is a way of meeting other reiki students, practitioners, teachers and those interested in finding out more about reiki. The concept of a reiki share is for everyone attending to both give and receive reiki in a safe, supportive and loving environment. Whilst one person is lying on the treatment couch, 2,3 or 4 people give reiki to them at the same time, moving to whichever parts of the body they feel drawn. Treatments are hands-on or hands-off depending on what the recipient prefers. When that session has finished, someone else will then be treated. This rotation continues until everyone has received a treatment. The number of people attending normally varies between 4 and 8 people.
Why go to a reiki share?
Reiki practitioners can benefit enormously from attending reiki shares as, by nature, they are very giving people and wish to heal others, sometimes forgetting their own needs. Reiki shares are an opportunity for them to receive reiki themselves, and complement their own self-treatments. For people who may wish to build their confidence in giving treatments or for those who have little or no experience of using reiki, shares are a good way to build that confidence and knowledge. Reiki shares are also a good way to meet other like-minded people and discuss experiences of using, receiving or training in reiki. There is always a special energy when reiki people gather at a reiki share. Many people notice an increased intensity in the reiki they receive as it comes from multiple hands.

ABOUT ALISTAIR
"I first encountered reiki in 2004 when living in the North West of England and reiki was recommended to help with a digestive condition. I found that a combination of reiki, reflexology and acupuncture helped me manage the condition without prescribed medication. I then moved back to Brighton and in the process of moving I lost touch with reiki.
It was nearly 10 years later that I felt drawn again to reiki, and to learn how to give reiki to myself. I trained at the Reiki Academy London in 2013 -2014, completing the reiki 1, reiki 2 and reiki master courses, though I hesitate to call myself a master as I feel there is always more to learn. All courses at the Reiki Academy London are in the Eastern and Western lineages: Usui Shiki Ryoho/Usui Reiki Ryoho. (www.reikiacademylondon.com)
As a practitioner, I started out giving reiki to family and friends and for three years I volunteered at the Martlets Hospice, giving reiki to in-patients and their families. A lot of the patients found the reiki helped them to relax.
I am a practitioner member of the UK Reiki Federation (https://www.reikifed.co.uk/reiki-near-me/) and am registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (www.cnhcregister.org.uk). I hold professional indemnity insurance as a reiki practitioner.
I have given hundreds of reiki treatments but am still constantly surprised at the positive impact that such an apparently simple treatment can have on people.
I am married with a grown-up daughter and I live in Patcham. I enjoy a combination of reiki (self-treatments and reiki shares), yoga, qi gong, meditation, acupuncture, walking, paddle-boarding, swimming and medical herbalism to help maintain my own well-being and balance. "
