Rufus Jordan
Rufus graduated from the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine (Kingston University) in 2008 with a first class honours degree in Acupuncture. As a member of the British Acupuncture Council, he is am bound by their codes of practice ensuring the highest standards in professional, ethical and safe practice.
He practice a combination of Five Element and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) acupuncture combining other treatment modalities such as massage, cupping, moxabustion, electro-acupuncture and heat therapy. An integral part of his treatment is offering specific advice and support in making lifestyle changes (diet, exercise, sleep, work/life balance, etc.) to help his patients obtain and sustain good health and wellbeing.
Rufus joined the Acupuncture Clinic in February 2008, and treats a wide range of conditions (pain, migraine, stress, anxiety, insomnia, skin conditions). His areas of special interest are in treating women’s’ health (menstrual problems, menopause, fertility, pregnancy, post natal care) and men's health (male fertility, genito-urinary). He is a member of the clinic’s Fertility and Back Pain specialist clinics.
During his 4 year training, he volunteered as an auricular (ear) acupuncture practitioner for Pathways To Health acupuncture charity project in Brighton. He continues his professional development as an acupuncturist by attending post-graduate training courses including: gynaecology, fertility, pregnancy, musculo-skeletal conditions, electro-acupuncture. In October 2008, he spent 6 weeks travelling around China, 2 weeks of which in Guangzhou, China where he experienced the Dr’s practicing acupuncture in a mainstream hospital.
Before becoming an acupuncturist, Rufus studied a Telecommunications Engineering Degree in Plymouth and spent many years working in the field of IT at American Express in Brighton. He continues to maintain an interest in IT by working part-time in a charitable organisation in Whitehawk, East Brighton. He was inspired to become an acupuncturist through his own experience of the wide-ranging benefits that acupuncture gave him when he suffered with debilitating lower back pain and sciatica.
Rufus practices Qi Gong, Ba Gua, Xing Yi, and regularly head up to the South Downs on his bike or walking, whatever the weather. He also enjoys listening to and composing music, cooking and travelling. His most favourite thing is spending time with his son.
