Kids Yoga, Mondays 4-5pm
Term-time only: 6 weeks for £48, pre-bboking required
This lovely yoga class for 6-12 yr olds follows the Asanas as established in the Children Do yoga books by Jessica Wingate. We use Animal names & games aimed to encourage the children to learn to relax, to focus and concentrate and develop patience, as well as building strength, balance and flexibility. Throughout the classes, we do exercises with our breath and encourage all to allow themselves to relax and connect to their bodies whilst playing and taking into consideration their individual needs. We end every class with a lying meditation in Savasana, which has been proven to be an incredible tool to allow the children to really drop-in into a relaxing and self-nurturing space.
Yoga for Teenagers, Mondays 5.15-6.15pm
Term-time only: 6 weeks for £54, pre-booking required
The “teens” years are transition years and can be stressful, quite hectic and hard to navigate. As a Mum to teenagers, I know this age group benefits greatly through a mindful yoga practice to support their physical, emotional and mental growth as they discover who they are. At the beginning of our classes, we focus on relaxing our bodies through Pranayama exercises and gentle asanas to help the Teenagers find their “present” moment on the mat (start to allow themselves to be without their phones). As the class progresses, we move through asanas which increase their connection to their physical body, challenge their minds by working at their own individual range of flexibility through movement & breath awareness. We finish every class in Savasana with a 10 mins meditation. The class is a chance for teens to discover the joys and benefits of yoga, hoping to build on their balance and strength, emotional wellbeing and to help them relax and find a place of calm inside. Note: We use Yoga Props to support each student unique practice and needs.
Adults -Restorative Yoga Class, Vajrasati Yoga
Wednesdays 12.15 – 1.15pm: 6 weeks for £54.00 or £10 per class, pre-booking required
This class offers a gentle approach to yoga practice, using mostly passive and restorative asana, some pranayama and meditation techniques. The class is open to all levels of experience, including beginners and yoga practitioners recovering from injury. We use Yoga props to allow each student to feel supported in their unique practice bringing any adjustments they might need in order to become more open and present in their practice. Throughout the class, we use our breath and energy awareness to enable our innate connection between our Physical body, Mind and Soul. We usually finish every class with a short-guided meditation whilst in Savasana, intention varies from class to class and in some classes, there is only the sound & vibration of calming music.
About Tika
I had been practising Pilates and Yoga for several years whilst working as a Human Resources Consultant and juggling my life as a mother of 3 children. I found my Yoga practice had an incredible transformative effect at a physical level after being involved in a road traffic accident whilst on my bicycle. However, it was the impact of Yoga at an emotional and spiritual level that made my healing process take place and facilitated this immense appreciation, gratitude and love I now feel for this practice.
My Teacher training journey:
As I did Yoga at home, I noticed my youngest son mirroring my Asanas. In time, I saw the beautiful benefits at such a young age, hence the reason I decided to embark on the “Children Do Yoga” course ran by Jessica Wingate at The Tree of Life Centre a few years back. I am a fully qualified/Insured Children Yoga Teacher since 2017 and very passionate to get children inspire to discover yoga as their anchor to their true selves, through their bodies, mind and spirit. After teaching children for a few years, I decided to continue my training as a yoga Teacher and embarked on a 2 years Yoga Teacher Training with Vajrasati Yoga School, which I completed in Summer 2019. I am now a 500 hours YAUK teacher totally committed to evolve within a mindful practice, cultivating inner peace and sharing the love and passion I feel for this incredible practice.
I currently run weekly Yoga Classes for Kids, Teenagers and Adults at the Tree of Life and run workshops and retreats at my new studio “YogaByNature” in Bolney, West Sussex.
